Baby Grace

Baby Grace

The day Grace was born was the most empowering day of my life. My first daughter was born at the hospital. I had an epidural for pain relief but then was unable to feel my contraction which lead to a long labour and the use of a vacuum. With my second baby I had an amazing midwife (Stephanie). I feel like I received the best care and that I was able to make decisions for myself with the information that was provided to me. They also included my toddler by letting her help measure my tummy at appointments. Stephanie and Linda were great coaches and supported me through the whole thing. I feel so blessed to have had a peaceful water-birth in the comfort of my own home. Having a natural birth made me feel so strong and capable. It was amazing to reach down and feel my baby as she entered into the world. She was immediately put on my chest where she remained while we cuddled together under a warm towel. She has been a peaceful baby since the day she was born and I can't help but wonder if the soothing atmosphere she was born into had anything to do with it.

Baby Clara

Baby Clara

My sister-in-law gave birth to 3 beautiful children with the help of her midwives and she was very pleased. When I got pregnant I really wanted to have the same positive experience and held my breath waiting for the midwives to finally open their clinic in Orangeville. I felt so relieved when they did. The best way to describe my first pregnancy & birth is to say that, I had my private health care team always available for me from the day I got pregnant to the day my daughter was 8 weeks old. What do you do when you catch a very severe case of flu on a Saturday evening at 11pm in your 6th month of pregnancy? You call your midwife who has your medical & pregnancy history at her finger tips and can tell you exactly what to do. What do you do when 7 days after giving birth you experience severe dizziness and you don't know why this is happening? Again, you contact your midwife, who was present for the birth of your baby and can visit you at home to do some blood work and other tests, so you can rest and not worry about driving anywhere with your newborn. I cannot think of any medical institution that offers the same kind of private health care which includes:

  • 24hrs on call for emergency
  • home visits after giving birth
  • information on everything related to your pregnancy, birth and more!
  • emotional support and or any other issue a pregnant woman may be going through at the time and all covered by OHIP!

Our Clara arrived at home on June 22nd 2010 in just under 5 hrs and it was the most amazing, experience of my life. A big thank you from the bottom of my heart to my midwife and the entire team. I hope to see you again soon.
